Tumblr Assignment #11
Work through at least one of the tutorials from the links provided on InDesign and write a paragraph about what you learned. (Note: This isn’t busy work, this is to show you all the free resources that are available, and to get you accustomed to learning on your own.)
I worked through a tutorial on Creating an Interactive Portfolio with InDesign from one of the links. This collection of my photography was the result.
Above all, this tutorial taught me about the non-print based (flash/web interactivity) features that InDesign includes. I practiced making frames in order to place all the images and thumbnails, and resizing images within these frames. The tutorial helped familiarize me with the arrangement of InDesign — it was useful to locate some of the features we had learned in Illustrator in InDesign. I got to try the master page option, which I could see being very useful for a variety of projects. I learned about buttons and animations, which I may end up using again. This project opened my eyes to the possibilities for using InDesign in designing for the web and exporting to SWF. This tutorial helped me to work on a small but multi-page project and got me excited for our final project. I also created something pretty cool in the process… Very helpful!
